Now that you're 9-week pregnant, you're probably starting to think about how the baby's gonna change life when the baby's in the picture. That's why around the 9th week of pregnancy, you may want to start looking for ways that you and your partner can budget for you to have extra money when the baby comes. You should also consider reviewing your company's manual to see how maternity leave is normally handled. That way, when you break the news to your boss, you will be prepared to discuss your expectations — and start a potential maternity leave plan. How big is the baby at 9 weeks? The baby is the size of a cherry at 9 weeks pregnant. Its 9-week fetus measures about 9 inches and weighs around .07 ounces, and its growth is collecting steam! Surprised by baby size at 9 weeks? Wait.9 Pregnant weeks How many months is it? Doctors usually follow pregnancy per week, not for a month, but if you're dying to know how many months of pregnancy you are, at 9 weeks you're pregnant for two months, now entering your third month of pregnancy. Just a few more weeks to go in the first quarter!9 Weeks Pregnant symptoms Right now, the pregnancy hormone hCG circulates through your body at its maximum level. This means that at 9 weeks, some pregnancy symptoms can be more severe. Hang in there, you're a few weeks away from those hormones that are leveling a little, letting you feel a lot more like you. This is what 9 weeks of pregnant symptoms you may be experiencing: Can you get 9 weeks pregnant without symptoms? Believe it or not, it is totally possible to reach 9 weeks of pregnancy, without symptoms in sight. If you are one of the few fortunate to escape the symptoms of pregnancy so far, keep in mind that they might still appear. Regardless, if you do not have 9 weeks of pregnancy symptoms, tell your doctor when you have your first prenatal appointment. It is possible that, if you never had symptoms and not yet, you are only lucky!9 Weeks Belly Embedded Many moms are struggling to score their jeans at 9 weeks pregnant. Your uterus is expanding to accommodate your growing fetus. In fact, it's doubled in size! You can even be showing a little at 9 weeks. Your uterus will begin to grow from your pelvis in the next few weeks. Weight gain at 9 weeks is not well, it is recommended. The weight your doctor recommends during pregnancy will depend on your pre-pregnancy body mass index (CMI). For example, if you started with a normal BMI, you are likely to be told to put a total of 25 to 35 pounds during pregnancy, and about one to five pounds of that should happen in the first quarter. If you're 9 weeks pregnant with twins, you should aim to put a pound a week right now. Having said this, many mothers-to-be are so deeply rooted with morning disease and food aversions when they are pregnant 9 weeks that they may not be gaining weight - they may be losing! Naturally, you will want to talk to your OB about any concerns you have with your weight gain or loss, and definitely let them know if it is sudden or drastic. But most doctors will tell you that the minor weight loss is good at this stage of the game. Once you start regaining your appetite, you will have the opportunity to regain your weight. There are also pregnant women who have so severe nausea that they need more intense medical treatment. Nausea and vomiting are common during pregnancy, but women often do not report their symptoms to their doctor. There are several TBTs and prescription drugs that are safe in pregnancy and can help control your symptoms, so tell your OB what you are experiencing and you can decide together what treatments are best. Some mothers-to-be suffer from hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), which is diagnosed when a pregnant woman is so sick that she is dangerously dehydrated. If you cannot keep the liquids low, you are losing a significant amount of weight or if you have passed out, you should tell your doctor, that you will make an evaluation to see if you have HG. The good news is that there are HG treatments. You may need an intravenous pathway to replenish your fluids, and you and your doctor may choose to try a prescription anti-tinausea medication to help stop vomiting.9 weeks Ultrasound Pregnancy The first prenatal appointment usually occurs between weeks 8 and 12. So, for now, you may have visited the OB — if not, you will soon! On that first date you can even see the baby's small heartbeat on the ultrasound. Exciting stuff, huh? About 9 weeks pregnant, ultrasounds are usually transvaginally made. That means that the doctor or ultrasound technician will have to insert a probe into the vagina, as your uterus still sits behind your pelvic bone. (Don't worry, it doesn't hurt!) The probe will emit sound waves, which will allow you to see an image of your 9-week fetus on a screen. Not only will a baby look like a lime bean, but the 9-week pregnant ultrasound will also confirm that the pregnancy is uterine (which means there are no signs of ectopian or tubal pregnancy at 9 weeks). The doctor may point out the gestational sac, the yolk sac and the fetal pole. Within your week 9 pregnant belly, the baby is working on that sweetness, developing more different facial features. And the baby could have a strong enough beat to be picked up by a fetal doppler. At 9 weeks of pregnancy, the risk of abortion is in many women's minds. Be assured that once you have seen or heard a heartbeat, the risk collapses to 2 to 9 percent, depending on your age, and will continue to decline in the next few weeks. Other prenatal tests that can wait around 9 weeks pregnant may include blood work to test hormone levels, blood type, white and red blood cell counts and certain STDs. You may also have a Pap test to check for abnormalities (which may be signs of cervical cancer), and a urine test to detect intrauterine infections and check that protein levels appear healthy. Everything you do and prodding will be worth when you're holding your newborn baby. How's the baby at 9 weeks? Now that the baby is almost an inch long, they definitely look like a miniature baby! The baby has ear lobes now, clear fingers and a little nose nubbin. This is the final week of the embryonic state of the baby, and with that comes a head that is a little more rounded and straightened. The baby's arms are bent on the elbow — ideal for solving all those small muscles that are forming! What to expect at 9 weeks pregnant with twins If you have had acute symptoms of 9 weeks of pregnancy, you might be surprised to learn in your ultrasound of 9 weeks that you are having twins! This can be a bit of shock, so be nice to yourself while you absorb the information. You may feel elated or terrified to be 9 weeks pregnant with twins, but you will get used to the idea. Talk to your doctor about what you should expect with twins and what you might need to do differently. 9-week Pregnant Tips Preventing Acidity Hormonal progesterone is coursing through your body right now, which relaxes uterine muscles to adapt to your growing baby. It also happens that it relaxes the valve between the esophagus and the stomach, and that it can introduce one of the most common and lasting symptoms of pregnancy: heart acidity. Leave the acidity before you start eating smaller meals all day (which, bonus, can also help with nausea), avoiding large meals at night and avoiding spicy and greasy foods completely. If you can't kick it yet, ask your doctor about taking an acid, which could provide you with calcium. Gian-win! Change to stretched fabrics At that uncomfortable point where your regular jeans are too tight, but that gorgeous maternity dress still looks like a store in your 9-week baby? Say hi to forgive, stretched fabrics. Now is the time to break all your leggings, runners and dresses without a clearly defined waist. Elastic waistbands are about to be your best friend, and (for now) you will still be able to escape with your regular stretched clothes. When there is doubt, hydrating Drinking more water will help solve a multitude of pregnancy problems, from swelling to headaches and constipation. Drink eight full glasses of clear and unheated liquids per day to stay hydrated and prevent all kinds of discomfort by pregnancy.
